Joe was raised in Olympia and attended college in Michigan. After returning to Washington, he spent many years working with the state and local communities on Puget Sound cleanup & restoration.

Joe currently specializes in managing state and federal grants for local government, volunteering to do similar work for non-profit organizations in the recovery arena. After spending 20 years in the Olympia recovery community, he saw the significant positive impact that therapeutic courts were having on the community and people in need. He hopes to be part of the positive change that brought him to the Strophy Foundation. Joe loves to help others find physical, mental, and spiritual recovery, working with the local veterans community, enjoys spending time with his family, and of course, climbing the mountains of the world.
