Learn more about the courts:
The Thurston County DUI/Drug Court Program is a court-supervised, comprehensive drug treatment program available to eligible non-violent drug and property felony offenders and adult DUI offenders whose crime is related to or caused by drug and/or alcohol addiction. The mission is to break the "revolving door" cycle of drug use and crime and to support participants to achieve total abstinence from drugs and alcohol, by promoting responsibility and accountability, and by teaching participants to become productive members of the community. The DUI/Drug Court Program is an alternative to jail and/or prison and integrates chemical dependency and trauma treatment and community resources/ancillary services with the criminal justice system. You can find additional information about the Thurston County DUI/Drug Court Program here, or by reaching out to the program coordinator.

The Thurston County Family Recovery Court (FRC) is an alternative to the regular dependency court system for parents with substance abuse issues. FRC is a voluntary program that seeks to improve outcomes for families involved in the dependency system by providing opportunities for treatment, empowerment, and healing to address the needs of parents and their children as the family works toward the ultimate goal of reunification. This is accomplished through the collaborative work of the multiple agencies who oversee these cases and strive to ensure every child receives permanency in a safe, stable home. You can find additional information about the Thurston County Family Recovery Court program here, or by contacting the Family Recovery Court Coordinator.

“As soon as the court reduced its functions and hours, treatment agencies closed temporarily, and stay-at-home orders were in place due to COVID-19, the Family Recovery Court team gathered to discuss ways to continue to keep our participants engaged in treatment, engaged in their recovery communities, and engaged with their children. Every member of the team understood the impact of this virus on our participants and their ability to maintain their sobriety and continue to work toward reunification with their children. So many great ideas were put forward that allowed us to continue to operate as a court and continue to provide our clients with accountability, structure, services, and support.” – Senior Defense Attorney
