Robert “Bob” Almada City of Lacey Chief of Police
Chief Robert Almada currently serves as the Chief of Police for the Lacey Police Department. He joined the Lacey Police Department in 2019 after serving with the Santa Monica Police Department for almost three decades. Chief Almada has served several roles throughout his career which has provided insights into the benefits of therapeutic courts and mental health services in achieving improved outcomes for persons experiencing substance abuse and mental health challenges.
Chief Almada joined the Strophy board to further his and his department’s commitment to community- based policing. Chief Almada is a strong proponent of therapeutic courts for first-time, low-level offenders. He finds that this helps to reduce recidivism, freeing up police resources to investigate and apprehend violent predators and habitual offenders.
Chief Almada and his wife love living in this community. They are involved in a number of local charities and organizations including The Strophy Foundation, Relay for Life, North Thurston Education Foundation, Northwest Bloodworks, and occasional dog foster parents for Joint Animal Services.
