Scott Harriage, MD, Board Member
Scott grew up in Aurora, Illinois. He graduated from Stanford University in 1973, from Vanderbilt University Medical School in 1977, and completed a residency in Ob/Gyn at Northwestern University in 1981. He then served in the National Health Service Corps at the Yakima Valley Farmworkers Clinic before moving to Olympia in 1985. He worked at the Group Health Cooperative of Puget Sound’s Olympia Medical Center until retirement at the end of 2015. His wife Michele is a CNM/ARNP who works in women’s health. They have four sons, one of whom is a graduate of the DUI/Drug Court, and two grandchildren who live here in Olympia.
His son’s involvement in drug use prompted him to educate himself in addiction medicine, culminating in attending the California Society of Addiction Medicine’s annual board review course in 2016. Attending his son’s graduation and subsequent Court graduation ceremonies inspired him to join the Board of the Strophy Foundation to support all of the Therapeutic Courts. He supports the Olympia Bupe Clinic for the treatment of opioid use disorder by working there part-time.
Scott enjoys spending time with family and friends. Hobbies include music and cars. Learning to square dance over the past several years has been surprisingly fun, great exercise, and an opportunity to make many new friends. Life seems busier than ever after retirement!
